He’ll Take Your Bilum

Jim and Becka Johnson are missionaries serving in Papua New Guinea, specializing in support and education ministries. The latest post on the Johnsons’ ministry page gives a great lesson from the field about carrying burdens.

Jim and Becka Johnson stated, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” I Peter 5:7

“In PNG, bilums are used by women and men. Bilums are used for many things. A small list would include: purse, baby carrier, food carrier – bringing in things from the garden, grocery carrier – bringing things home from town, bag for school, and Bible carrier. Bilums are used to carry important items and help us to hold more things. Spiritually speaking, we all have a bilum – an invisible bag of our burdens, cares, and worries – this bilum gets unbelievably heavy unless we take it to the Lord and leave it with Him.”

Will you give God your bilum and trust Him to provide direction for your life today? If God is calling you to the field on a work team trip but you’re reluctant, contact our staff and ask any questions you may have. We’re here to equip you and prepare you for what God has placed on your heart.
