First AWANA club started in Albania

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness…(2 Timothy 3:16)

With this Bible verse and 28 kids, Nathan and Cydil Waggoner and their team in Albania started what is believed to be the first Awana club for kids in the country! Awana is a global ministry that produces children’s Bible curriculum, with a focus on Scripture memory. (The name stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed, from 2 Timothy 2:15.) According to the Awana website, each week more than 2 million children and youth, 330,000 volunteers and 260 field staff take part in Awana in 30,000 churches around the world.

In addition to the church plant that Nathan and Cydil are working with, 20 other churches in Albania are in the process of starting Awana clubs. Check out their blog to view some great photos of this milestone event!

ACT

Pray for the kids as they memorize Bible verses and participate in the Awana program. Pray that God’s Word will take root in their hearts. Pray also for Eniola, the Bible teacher, as she explains the teachings of the Bible to these precious children.
