Build a Well in South Sudan

phillips-joy_14Imagine what your life would be like if a glass of clean water is a luxury. If the only way to get that glass was a 30-minute walk from your home, carrying it back with your own arms. If every day the focus was simply on survival. In South Sudan, that is the reality of life for over 50% of the population. Here’s Joy Phillips, WGM’s director of compassionate ministries, sharing on Facebook about what WGM is doing to help.

“A few days ago I posted a disturbing article about the consequences of poverty. Yesterday I shared about the lack of clean drinking water in South Sudan. South Sudan is one of the poorest countries in the world and most villages have no electricity or running water.

Further development of the world’s newest country has been thwarted by an internal war since December 2013. But there is HOPE! WGM missionary, Adhanom, is working with the Church. There is a hunger to study God’s Word and better yet, to make personal application of its truths. People are learning more productive farming methods and how to prevent disease. WGM has the opportunity to come alongside this Church and community and invest in a well. There will be multiple benefits to having a clean, close-by source of water for the Church, its locally built training center, and for Adhanom’s use. Not to be forgotten is the development of a ‘Farming God’s Way’ demonstration garden planned next to the borehole.

Would you like to be a part of what God is doing in central South Sudan? Pray with us for the final details to be worked out with the drilling company – maybe even a discount! For continued peace in the State to enable this project to move forward. For the water management committee that has been formed. Praise God for the health that clean water will bring. And for the many other benefits this will bring to the Church and community. If you’d like to be a part of funding this project see details below. Maybe even make this a project for your VBS or other group this summer! Thanks for caring!!”
